The new NODE does have improvements to audio as well as a few more features. So essentially the additions when moving from a VAULT 2 to the new NODE would be those added in Gen 2i (Airplay, 2-way BT and improved BT), as well as:

    • The NODE (N130) features a PCM 5242 Burr-Brown DAC that has been implemented with a differential output design to cancel out as much unwanted noise as possible. The new NODE (N130) measures in at -113dB SNR and 0.002% distortion compared to NODE 2i's -110dB SNR and 0.005% distortion (the lower distortion, the better)
    • A faster processor which means a faster brain
    • It also comes equipped with a proximity sensor
    • Matt satin body finish (think of Les Paul Gothic guitar)
    • USB Output

Note that the NODE would not have an internal storage like the VAULT would, but the NODE has WiFi support where the VAULT does not.

If an attached network storage isn't the make-or-break, you'll get a lot more out of the new NODE if the two are at the same price point.

    Hi,

    Thanks for your fast reply.

Please let me know if the new output design has influence on the optical output as I plan to use my own dac.

    Thanks and regards,

    Philip

    Hi,

Still waiting for your reply. Try to make the question as simple so the answer will be clear to me: Is there a difference between the optical output of the Vault 2 to the one of the NODE (N130), and if yes what are the differences? Thanks in advance
