Glad to hear you're interested! At release, the new NODE will not have support for Dolby content over HDMI - 2.1 ch PCM Stereo only - so it will not be able to work in that setup as intended.

I did not see this post before, so I ended up opening a zendesk case (#235588) with more or less the same question. It turns out you get a different answer depending on who you ask.
I got this response, which pretty much killed my hope of ever being able to use my node for surround: "The Node N130 is not Dolby certified and will probably not be a product that will be certified in future."
But if there's a chance it will happen that's good to hear.

This would be an awsome feature to have… It just feels right with the hdmi and all.

I would like to add my support to this idea.  Please stop trying to give me an amplifier!  I have plenty of (more powerful) amplification already.  NODE + surround sound would be the ultimate front end for my entertainment system perhaps only outdone by an M10 v2 sans amplification.

I would buy a new node in a heartbeat if this feature was enabled. Please could you give it some consideration.

Hi, this should be fairly easy to do, since the hardware is very similar to the PowerNode. I already asked the Bluesound support about this a few months back, but never got an answer. I too have several power amps, that I would like to use with my Node. It seems like a product strategy decision and nothing else.

In speaking with our Engineering team, it is not similar enough... The NODE is not capable of DOLBY content and can only deliver 2.1 audio. It will not be possible even via software.

Well that's a gigantic let-down.  Why miss out on the opportunity to sell every NODE customer two more Bluesound products?

I guess I'll keep my eyes open for the next generation of NODE assuming it proves to be less of a disappointment.

It does look like Bluesound missed a trick with that decision.

That is definitely a missed opportunity to sell me 2 Flex'es. Would have bought 2 on the spot if this was possible. I love the one I have already, so would be more than happy to buy two more for a surround setup.

Same here. I would also buy two Flex'es. And Sam's first answer in this thread could hint at Dolby being implemented at some point: "At release, the new NODE will not have support for Dolby content over HDMI"......

We are a Bluesound Dealer in Switzerland. Many of our customers desire Dolby encoding through the NODE (Gen 3). Thanks.
