Since the BluOS App does not actually play music, iOS Development guidelines prevent us from using the volume buttons to control playback volume unless you are using AirPlay. This is a strict no-no in Apple development so had to be removed some years ago. We cannot implement it and pass iOS App Store Approval.

    Thanks for understanding.

would it be possible to control the volume on BluOS products with the phone's volume buttons?

On Andriod devices it is already, and has been since forever. Perhaps you need to review permissions in your phone's OS to allow?

Hmm, I have an iPhone, all possible permissions are given, still no dice.

Actually KriHad - it's not possible anymore - it used to be...but Apple asked we remove it. See my official comment...

What I don't get is that it's possible for Sonos, Bose Soundtouch, Marshall Multi-room, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect... – but not for Bluesound/BluOS.

I can add, that Roon for long took the same position; to NOT add HW Idevice buttons for volume control, but in their release from this fall  it is avialable! Roon isn't a player app itself so the argument that Apple SDK only lets playing apps use the HW buttons can't  be valid anymore. WOuld be great to hear what the BluOS position is..
