Crackling sound and loss of sound from one speaker/headphone output
AnsweredI bought a Node 2i a month ago.
Initially, it seemed to work fine once I had set it up. However, over the last two weeks, there has been a problem which I think may be with the device itself. It seems to have a loose connection which affects the right speaker output. It produces a crackling sound or loses sound altogether. This does not seem to happen with the other speaker output. It happens whether I use the speakers or my headphones so I don’t think it can be a problem with the speaker or the cable - also I don’t have the problem when using the CD player on the same
system.
I thought it might be a wi-fi connection but I have tried all the suggested solutions from Bluesound (disconnecting wi-fi then reconnecting, turning off all other devices etc). Also, if I stream music through my computer there is no problem and I can stream films and TV programmes so there is plenty of wi-fi capacity. It happens whether I use wi-fi or the ethernet cable.
I am at a bit of loss. On the whole, I like the Bluesound and, in theory, it does exactly what I want and it is, a great bit of kit but this problem does make it pretty much unlistenable.
Do you have any suggestions as to what the problem might be or do you think that there is an internal fault? Any thoughts or suggestions would be very helpful. Look forward to hearing from you.

Hello Andrew,
Please replicate this crackling and then send a diagnostics log (via the BluOS app; Help > Send Support Request, log will be automatically attached) so our support crew may look into this more closely.
I would in the meantime suggest test Ethernet connecting you player directly to the router just to confirm your findings.

Sam,I have tried to send a diagnostics log. But when I do and fill in all the boxes, I am told that I need to put in a valid email address, country etc and then it deletes all the information I have put in. So I don't know how to do it. I have recorded the appalling sound I am getting from the Node 2i but there is nowhere to upload it to send to you. It is hard to replicate the crackling sound. It sounds like really bad reception/interference. As you can hear, it makes the device unlistenable. I really hope you can help because it prevents me from getting any pleasurable listening experience from the Bluesound Node 2i.To be honest, it is very tiresome to be met with no attempt to solve the problem or even accept that a problem exists. I have spent £500 on this machine. It sounded good for about a week but since then (two or three weeks) it has been a terrible listening experience. Had I known it was going to be so bad and that the support was going to be so poor, I wouldn't have bought the player. It is just too complicated to get it to play properly.I look forward to hearing from you.Andrew Taylor0

Please forward the video to support@bluesound.com with reference #222795 so we can link it back to a ticket I see you have open.
Its difficult to say quite yet if this is hardware or elsewhere (it's intermittent and developed over time and is only appearing in one side, which makes it hard to immediately place what could be the issue) , but follow up with the support crew so they may investigate more closely to find the source.

Hello Sam, Andrew
I have the same problem from time to time with my NODE130 (bought in September 2021). Did you find the solution to this problem?
When rebooting the NODE (unplugging/plugging in) it works correctly again, but the loss of the right channel sound starts again after a few minutes.
Thanks for your help
Alain

Having the same problem intermittently, with the node 2i both the issue with one speaker cutting out - and a glitch / crackle which makes listening to music on a supposedly high end system not sound very high end at all. Have 3 x Flex / sound bar and a node. Have had issues pretty much consistently.
