Pulse Soundbar and Flex losing audio

When my Bluesound Pulse Soundbar 2 (not i) and 2 Pulse Flex 2i are connected to my tv via optical (no HDMI available) the sound sometimes drops for a short while in a circular motion: first soundbar, then first flex, then second one. After which sound is restored. It lasts very short - not even a second, but happens quite frequently and unpredictable. Very disturbing while watching a movie or listening to music via TV
Only happens with the tv connection, does not happen when listening to music via the Bluesound app.
