What don't I know about album art?
AnsweredOk, so, I have never had a perfect music library. In iTunes? Sure. In BluOS? Never. I'd say at least 20% of my library does not show album art in BluOS. That's fine. I accepted this as my fault. Perhaps incompatible art embedded in the metadata or something. I don't know. Anyway, thanks to Covid, I've found myself with more time and I set to updated, filtering, culling and otherwise perfecting my music library. One of the items on this to do list was to fix the Album Art issue in BluOS.
I had read many threads here about the art issue and followed the instructions to a T. I have found art for each album, resized everything to a max size of 500x500 pixels, converted to .png and made sure every file was under the 600kb limit. I named each file folder.png and placed inside each albums' folder alongside the song files.
I deleted the share completely then re-added the share and rebuilt the library database.
So what did I do wrong. Still missing album art.
I went one step further and deleted the share again and added a new share with a test music folder containing just three albums. I put the exact same folder.png image inside each albums folder before indexing and boom! Nailed it right? Nope. Only 1 of the 3 albums is showing the album art.
I'm stumped.

What I do different from you is first convert to jpg and then resize to 600x600 pixels. I don't mind the file size limit. With 100% coverage. Maybe you can run a test with jpg files.

There could be something in the metadata of some of these music files that is conflicting with the folder.jpgs in the root folder.
It would be best to send a copy of the same 3 albums you tested in the last scenario to support@bluesound.com so the support crew can test with the files themselves and confirm.

What happens if the art embedded in the audio file is larger than what Bluesound allows? I always delete embedded art.

Is there a reason you're using PNG? It's going to make images a lot larger than JPEG...
