BluOS On Android Crashes

The BluOS app on android 13 running on pixel 4a crashes.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, to no avail.
The app gets as far as a "Let's find your player" screen but then hangs. After a short while android informs you that "BluOS isn't responding."
I really regret buying a Bluesound product (a Node 2i). Every time I try to play some music I have to go through some absurd rigmarole to get the app to connect to the player. Now the app is just broken and the player is unusable.

The app also fails in the same way on a
- pixel 7 running android 13
- Sony Xperia running android 8.1
I have tried power-cycling the Node 2i. Twice.
I have tried power-cycling my home network router and hubs and the server PC.
All to no avail.

And now it works, for the moment, after another power-cycle of the Node 2i.
So to use a Bluesound Node 2i you have to reinstall the controller software and restart every component of your local network and the Node 2i itself any time you have friends of family round and want to play some music.
There is something clearly badly broken about the Bluesound software architecture.
I struggle with myself to remain polite about this.
