DAC Upgrade

I'm using the Node streamer (touchpad version) - the sound is good, but not great. I'm thinking about adding an external DAC to improve.  Any suggestions for (aprox) under the $700 mark?  There are no hi-fi stores anymore to audition equipment. 

Main gear: 200W integrated McIntosh amp / KLH Model 5 speakers / well treated room.

  Hi Joe, DAC choice is quite a personal thing and it hard to make specific recommendations. If MQA is important to you then do make sure the DAC supports MQA on all its inputs. I would suggest visiting some of the HiFi forums and see what other Bluesound NODE users have tried.
