Will an Ethernet-2-WiFi Universal WiFi Adapter provide suitable ethernet connectivity for my Vault 2?
AnsweredHi
When I first purchased my Vault 2 back in 2017, I had to set up a powerline in order to provide ethernet connectivity to my home network because the router is on the first floor landing whereas the Vault is in our ground floor lounge-diner.
More recently, however, I have been told by a telecoms engineer that things such as powerlines can adversely affect a wi fi router's performance.
Since the Vault is now the only device that absolutely requires ethernet connectivity I am looking for a less 'disruptive' alternative to a powerline and came across the BrosTrend 1200Mbps Ethernet-2-WiFi Universal WiFi Adapter, Wireless Bridge.
Is this or an equivalent device from a different manufacturer something that could replace the powerline for the Vault?
Many thanks,
Ian

Hi Ian
No - the VAULT does not accept any network inputs (including USB adapters) for a reason. You want that reliability when serving music to other players.
I have over 40 wireless devices in my home using a stock ISP router, and one wireless repeater and have had a Powerline Adapter on my VAULT for about 10 years now.
DHCP reservations in your router are really worth it.

Hi Tony
Many thanks.
Would you be able to expand upon DHCP reservations, and what benefits they bring for Vault owners?
Best Wishes,
Ian

Review your Home Router Documentation or onboard web interface to ensure your devices always get the same IP address every time they restart or you have a power outage.

Ok. But what issue is this solving?
