Network sharing a buggy mess

I'm using the latest version of the iOS app, as well as the most recent device firmware. 

I'm trying to access music files stored on my mac and went through the sharing procedure and it worked fine on the 1st try. Since then my library has randomly disappeared, and if I try to re-index it'll do one song and stop. The app also indicates that 'no shares are configured', but when I try to add the same folder again it tells me it's already been configured, yet I still can't access the library. 

All my devices are wired on a gigabit connection, so any wifi issues aren't applicable here. Aside from doing a factory reset is there any way to get this up and running? If it's this unstable and buggy it's a dealbreaker I'm afraid.
