MQA bewilderment

Question re: confusion about MQA when using the bluesound node (which supports mqa) connected via coax to the denafrips ares ii (which doesn't support mqa). Will this combination reproduce mqa quality files or does the dac also need to be mqa compatible? Secondly, is a coaxial the optimal connection for this setup? Thank you for accommodating me here, as I'm new to these concepts.
