Connecting to mobile device hotspot

Quick question here. Is it possible to use your mobile device as wifi source for your powernode 2i?

Not personally tried this but you would almost certainly need another controller device (phone / tablet) to connect to the hotspot to control your Powernode.

Correct, the controller won’t be able to see devices connected to the hotspot if it resides on the same device.

If it needs another device. Would it be possible to connect a portable audio player with a cable to the powernode? And how would I be able to do so without impacting audio quality?

You can just use either the optical or analogue inputs on the Powernode from a suitable device.
