Only ARC connection (no eARC) and no surround sound with Dolby TrueHD 7.1 or AAC 7.1
AnsweredSetup:
TV: LG Oled G2
Mediastreamer: Shield TV Pro (2019), with Plex as client
Receiver: Powernode N330 (connected to HDMI 2 eARC port on LG)
Front: Dali Opticon 6 MK2 speakers
Rear: Pulse M speakers
When i play a movie on my Shield with Plex i don't hear the rear speakers when the movie had a Dolby TrueHD 7.1 track.
When i select the AC3 5.1 track everything is fine.
A Dolby TrueHD 7.1 track has a AC3 5.1 core, so why doesn't play the Powernode the AC3 5.1 core?
When i look in the BlueOS app it shows Dolby Digital logo and HDMI ARC (no eARC). I replace my HDMI cables for HDMI 2.1 cables, but no eARC. In the settings from the LG TV i have eARC switched on. On the LG the audio setting is set to passthrough. When i set it on PCM i only have stereo in stead of 5.1 surround sound.
How can i force an eARC connection and what about my TrueHD 7.1 problem? I have a lot of movies with only a TrueHD 7.1 track.

I have files with eAC3 5.1 and for as far as i know i have surround sound on my rears. eAC3 5.1 is also known as Dolby Digital+. But the Powernode only support Dolby Digital. Could it be that it only plays the AC3 part?

Hi Binnus,
It's curious that you still have the dolby digital logo present, as I have learned it disappeared a couple of months ago due to a patch (and isn't visible in my app either anymore), are you sure this is the case? I am also using the powernode N330 and a LG C1 with various devices like a shield and an xbox and I have no trouble getting DD atmos or Dolby true HD to play (and out output 5.1), it however stays silence when I play DTS content which is annoying (no mixer present) so I even look specifically for movies with a dolby true hd track.

Hi Arecnon
If your Dolby log is not appearing, you have a problem. Please select Help, Send Support Request in the App so we may review the log file and help you understand why you are not getting Dolby

This is an example image from what i'm always see. A Dolby Dgital logo, nothing else:
@Arcenon, my english isn't really good. But i see always the Dolby Digital logo.
I did this in Plex: Under settings - advanced, i set audio passthrough to Optical and then i set optical encodings to AC3. Now i can play a TrueHD file and Plex transcodes it to AC3 5.1 with surround sound. It's wierd, because i don't use optical.
What are your settings to play TrueHD? It's Plex that transcodes the audiotrack, otherwise i only had stereo sound, and no surround.0 -
Hi Binnus, sorry I didn't respond. I can actually see the Dolby Digital logo through the desktop application, it just doesn't show up on the the IOS application, bluesound admitted the bug and are looking into it. Regarding the codecs, what I meant to say was i was receiving a actual 5.1 outputs while playing Atmos / True HD it ofcourse gets mixed / downsampled to a regular dolby digital or ac-3 stream as the codecs are not supported by Bluesound unfortunuately. Pretty sure I didn't not change the audio passthrough to optical within the Plex settings, but if you are geting a 5.1 stream when playing a file with these codecs everything is right.
