I am afraid so… at this point Apple only seem to let third party players use Airplay (with one exception). No doubt that will change in the future but when I cannot say, Airplay also is only CD quality so you loose out on the hires material.

Excuse the ignorance but how do I play lossless apple music through the bluesound node ?

The Apple Music App on iOS via Airplay for some reason does not play lossless but that’s a moot point as you don’t have any Apple Hardware and the same unfortunately for the solution below.

Using a Mac laptop / desktop you can send lossless Apple Music via Airplay.

Appreciate your responses. So sounds like I should actually go back to tidal if I want the best quality output from the node ? Unless of course I invest in apple equipment but even that won't get me to tidal quality .....hope i summarised that correctly

Yes, Tidal, Qobuz or even Amazon Music will give you higher than CD quality. Most streaming services let you have a free trial so you can see how well they work with the BluOS app.
