    Hi Neal

Bluesound Players only support the 2.4Ghz band and do not connect at 5Ghz.

It is a bit of a misnomer to suggest the 5Ghz is 'faster' 5Ghz waves are larger so can carry a bigger payload. This is advantages for video and as a result made a comeback in the past few years.

Being larger however isn't necessarily better. Consumers like to put players in nooks and corners which is much more suitable to smaller waves.

I too am disappointed that BlueSound does not support 5GHz networks and I am very surprised that the "official comment" states that 5GHz networks being faster is a "misnomer."  Under ideal conditions, 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi will support up to 450 Mbps or 600 Mbps, depending on the class of the router. 5 GHz Wi-Fi will support up to 1300 Mbps.  2.4GHz networks are also a lot more common, therefore there is a LOT more interference.  I can detect 18 2.4GHz networks at my house, and only 2 5GHz networks.  I have 27 devices connected to my 2.4GHz network and only 3 connected to 5GHz. Again, a LOT less crowded (surely someone at BlueSound understands what that does to RSSI and signal reliability?).   The BlueSound is the type of device that should be connected to a 5GHz network.  So, in addition to the 5GHz network offering more speed, it's also in a LOT less crowded space, which means a cleaner, more reliable signal.  Sure, 5GHz networks don't have the range of a 2.4GHz network, but not all of us are trying to stream from a router 50ft away in a "nook" or "cranny".  Mine is only 10 feet away, and, unfortunately, its connected to the same congested network as my lightbulbs.
