Integrate a comprehensive podcast service
AnsweredBluesound is lacking a comprehensive podcast service.
This seems like a major hole in what it offers.
I've tried using TuneIn and Spotify, but neither of them offer a comprehensive selection. TuneIn in particular is very poor for podcasts.
I heard that Sonos has integrated PocketCasts which offers an excellent podcast service and which I also use on my phone.
Can Bluesound also integrate PocketCasts?

Hi Eliot
Thanks for the feedback. I have forwarded it on to our Quality Assurance team for consideration.
In the meantime, you can use the PocketCast App and stream to your Player via Bluetooth,

I agree, I just bought a Vault 2. Very happy with it, but a bit surprised about the lack of podcasting app.
A proper podcast management service would be good.
At least, if Tune In could present the episodes of a podcast in chronological order!!!
There's no mention of the publishing date! And no mean of sorting them. Really not good enough.
Thanks for looking into sorting this out or integrating a service like Pocket Casts...

Hello everybody
I have found a way to make a desired podcast service visible in the Bluesound-App. You must have or have to create a TuneIn account. Add the podcast service directly to your favorites via the Browser in your TuneIn account. Of course, the Bluesound device has to be connected to the same TuneIn account.
System tricked - a little awkward - but works.

For our ever growing amount of 2i users, there is also AirPlay.

That is a terrible answer, especially for all of the people with Android devices, like me.
Can you please - please - finally add a proper podcast service to bluesound? Tune in is very poor for music, it cannot be counted as a quality platform.
And bluesound is about quality, yes?

I agree, it's pretty unbelievable that BS can not be bothered doing proper dev work around this. Podcast are ever so popular these days, this is a major gap! Really disappointing.... have been using Overcast on IOS and MacOS for the last couple of years, really good, and easy to create playlist on themes, etc...
seriously bluesound, please sort it out...

Hi Eliot
Just a reminder when using Bluetooth on your Android device, Bluesound Gen 2i Players have AptX HD, a step up from the Gen 2 Players' AptX.

The Bluetooth connection works when connected to one device, but I have a network of 4 players that play at once in different rooms - and whenever I stream to one using Bluetooth, the sound on the other devices is all choppy and unusable. I have a friend with 2 Bluesound devices and has the same problem with both networked Bluetooth and Airplay.
I don't understand tho - you keep obfuscating with alternative inferior options.
Why are you not interested in adding a comprehensive Podcast service like Pocket Casts to Bluesound?
1 -
I agree with Eliot, a good (or multiple?) Podcast service(s) is/are needed. Tune In dont have any of the podcasts I am interested in.
I use Powernode, and streaming from my phone to a streaming device seems very much the wrong way to resolve such a fundemental issue

Will re-up this thing. I also would like to see PocketCast integrated to BlueOS.

3 years ago, i also commented on this.... BS is not being very responsive..... Disappointing.
Please can we integrate 1 or several podcasting services?

Totally agree! This would be great to have integrated within the service options.

Hello Bluesound peoples - any news on this? This is big gaping hole in the music services Bluesound offers - any chance of an update here? I don't understand why you don't sort out a podcast specific service. Makes no sense :P

totally agree. I'm a french user and I consider the disastrous quality of podcast's services on bluOS scandalous.
1 -
I'd like to see some sort of podcast service too.

Another PocketCasts user here (on Android) that would love to have deep podcast integration with my Bluesound equipped house.

And another one. Really a bit disappointed about this, particularly as Tidal also is a bit crap with podcasts.
2 -
I am also very disappointed with the lack of integration with a proper podcast app. It's been a problem for so long - please fix this!

I assume Bluesound think that because the likes of Spotify and Tunein have podcast content, then there is no requirement for a separate app.
There's no way to play a private podcast RSS feed except via Bluetooth which is far from ideal.
I just got my node and I love it, but this is the one major omission. Really something that should be looked into

Agree. Please add a podcast alternative. TuneIn and Bluetooth is not good enough (private RSS++)

C'mon Bluesound Dudes
This can't be that hard to implement a Podcast service, where everybody can paste his own Feed URL into it. Why is nobody responding here? We all bought your system, and we all have a need here you can't just ignore this, can You?1 -
What is going on here? The fact that a proper Podcast app is unavailable on BueOS is hard to understand. Why is there no reply and update from Bluesound product support? The latest update was 4 years ago. That is terrible.

Hi Anders
There are already a number of great Podcast services already offered by BluOS via Spotify Connect and TuneIn Radio. Also if you have an iOS device, you can AirPlay the native original Podcast App on your iPhone or iPad to your BluOS Player.

TuneIn & Spotify are second class Podcast apps. Only 50% of my Podcast excists on these platform. I cannot use Aitplay as I am not an Apple user and Bluetooth is not an acceptable solution.

Commented 5 years ago and 3 years ago. This is utter disdain from Bluesound. Que frankly scandalous. I want a proper podcast management app.... What is it you guys in product don't understand... Podcast is the standard in audio content delivery just like on demand is the new normal rather than live tv.... Such a lack of foresight from Bluesound...

Got to agree with all the commenters here.
Not everyone uses Spotify, much less if you already have Tidal. Not even mentioning that for a lot of Bluesound users Spotify doesn't work well (doesn't keep the unit 'active' and lets it Standby, cutting off everything).
I'm not sure I know anyone using TuneIn for podcasts. But that's anecdotal, obviously.
Clearly, it's not a priority, but let's say that, instead of proposing stop-gap alternatives?
It is, indeed, disappointing, for high-end hardware that we all paid substantial amounts of money for.

Have to agree with what’s been said by others.
Genuinely disappointing the response to what is a perfectly reasonable request.
This is a huge gap for Bluesound

Like everyone else I'd also like to see some podcast apps integrated into Bluos. Surprised this hasn't already been done..

Ok time for another round on this. And it will be my last one.
Last night, around 2:30 AM, my unit turned on and started streaming iHeart radio.
Freaked the crap out of everyone in the house. Turns out my neighbour, who regularly stays up all night, was probably too drunk to figure out his Amazon Echo Dot was broadcasting via Bluetooth on my unit. The man has issues, I don't want to listen to his conspiracy crap.
In any case, what does it have to do with a podcast service?
Well, I'm willing to bet most of us here ONLY EVER use Bluetooth to get our podcasts on the device.
Where this becomes even more egregious, is that you have zero security over Bluetooth connections. There is no option to force a pin for pairing. My neighbour can connect at will. We have to shut off the entire unit now, foregoing the standby function to turn it on with our phones whenever we want, wherever we are, in the house. Dare I say, one of the main reasons we even get network-connected audio equipment.
As time goes by, we're all forced to make compromises, diluting a lot of what we paid this system for.
This one's the last straw for me. As soon as I have some spare time I will be researching another ecosystem and will have to sell out of NAD and BluOS.
The lack of support for the OS, or easy and heavily requested functions, feels like the OS is going under, anyways, with barebones resources allocated to it.
And no, Spotify is not a valid option for podcasts. Those of us using Tidal, for example, will not pay for Spotify on top of it just for podcasts.
Sorry, I believed, and I tried.

I tried again....
let's see if we can trigger a reaction...
