    Hi Brian

Great question. Most people do not edit their meta tags beyond what is initially created at ripping or point of purchase.

The Album is coming up as Unknown Album because the Album tag is blank. This would be the ideal behaviour as these songs do exist on an album, you simply do not have the entire album. Not having the song appear at all under Album view would be a bigger problem to many.

I hope that better explains how metatags are handled.

Having hundreds (or more) Unknown albums isn't a good solution to me.  However, I tried to put these songs under a single album title and that results in problems as well.  Perhaps you can advise.

I put these songs in an album called "!!!!Single Tracks" (so it would be first in the album listing).  I then put the AlbumArtist as "Various Artists".  Is this incorrect?

What I get is an album with 479 tracks labelled !!!!Single Tracks.  The name of the track is not displayed.

Also, I notice when I select other compilation albums that the artist name is not displayed although it is clearly in the metadata.

Waiting for your advise on how to properly get the music appearing in the library.

    Thanks,

    Brian

    Hi Brian

You should see the songs listed when you click on the Album.

It also sounds like you should be in Songs view given the way you sort your music.

The solution was to create a folder for singles and put the songs in that folder.  Then I had to re-build the index (from the app) and them reload the artwork (both from the Setting menu in the app).

Q2: How do I handle tracks with multiple artists?  For instance I don't want an artist called "George Michael and Elton John."  I want two separate artists: "George Michael" and "Elton John."  Most software has a separator of some sources in the artist tag.  What is the separator (if any) for bluesound?  ex. ; /

    Hi Brian

We search partial strings so if you place 'George Michael & Elton John' in the tag and search for either artist, we won't let the sun go down on you... (couldn't resist).

    har har har!

Ok, it's good that the search will work for multiple artists, but it still means that the artist list is going to be filled with multiples of the same artist, ex.

    John Coltrane

    John Coltrane & Duke Ellington

    John Coltrane & Johnny Hartman

John Coltrane & The Red Garland Trio

    etc.

3 extra artists that have their own artist listing.

No way around this I assume?

    Hi Brian

That is why there is an Artist Tag and an Album Artist Tag

John Coltrane goes in the Album Artist Tag and will only appear once in Artist View. The Artist Tag is where all the John Coltrane & Miles Davis entry goes...

Search results check Artist while Artist view shows Album Artist (AARTIST).

The problem is with single tracks and compilation albums.  If I have two separate artist and album artists then I get multiple unknown listings.  I need to have the album artist be various artists for them.  In those cases I can put the artists in the Artist tag like John Coltrane and Miles Davis, but neither show up in the Artist listing if I don't have an album by these particular artists (either one or both).

I sent a request for clarification directly to support to get some ideas about how to best get this working (including pictures).
