I have to jump in to agree.
I absolutely love the speakers, but they are let down by a terrible app.

Considering the premium feel of the speakers themselves, it is baffling how this app has been made and maintained over the years. On 5 separate apps across various OS, different speakers will be visible or not, on my laptop the app doesn't scale with the resolution, on Android each time the app is used you essentially have to force quit/crash it in order to be able to control your phone volume again, and in general organisation of music on NAS is terrible (amongst many problems).

What really surprises me is that almost every review I have read of the speakers says the same thing - they are widely praised acoustically, but there is always a comment about how poor the app is. I would have assumed it would be a priority to correct this, through new hirings etc., but it seems to have just stood over the years.

I am very pleased with my purchase, and customer support has been brilliant. It's very confusing how that can go hand in hand with the shoddiest app I have come across since my own student made computing projects.

  • Hi Aaron

Thank you for the feedback. We are continuing to work hard to improve the user experience and are making the App experience a priority.

"different speakers will be visible or not"

This issue speaks not to the App but to networking issues and reliable network throughput. We can help with that by selecting Help, Send Support Request in your App.

I also feel the need to jump in on this one.

Just upgraded the windows 10 app - is this an update to make this app usable I wondered.

The windows 10 app is still very poor. The screen layout and the font size makes it an unpleasant experience trying to navigate.

The iPhone app is serviceable and the quality of the stream the BluOS2 feeds into my system is excellent.

Also when the system bricked itself the service was swift and the unit fix happened quickly.

Overall happy with it.  But a better experience with an app is expected.

I had to return my bluesound device. The network issues and connection was terrible. I was not even on a wireless connection and it was still terrible. Sometime the device and app would connect and sometimes it would not. Would it did connect, the sound would cut in and out in the middle of songs.

I really hope the technology gets better with the blue OS app and the device. I can't see using it until it improves.

  • Just an update - The new Desktop App is available NOW at www.bluesound.com/downloads.

@Giacomo - I'm very sorry to hear that. I am also sorry to hear you never reported those issues until now. We are here to help...

The Desktop app will not help me. I would like to see a better version of the mobile iPhone app, one that is more reliable.

If the app improves in terms of connection and cutting in and out of sound, then I will try the device again. Even the dealer I was working with could not fix the problem. They came to my home. The app just needs to be improved.

One more thing. I downloaded the latest bluesound player for MAC OS and it can't even connect to the player. It just gave me what is attached in the screenshot. iPhone app is buggy and MAC OS  desktop app does not even work.

  • Hi Giacomo

It sounds like the problems you are having relate to your network router and problems it may have with Multicast. I have escalated your issue to one of our BluOS Support Crew Members. They will be in touch via e-mail.

I have already checked with my ISP tech support. Mulicast is turned on and my router is working fine. I've tried on both the 2.4 and 5 network and both do not work on mobile or desktop. Like I said, my dealer has also come over to my house to troubleshoot and they could not fix it either. I think the concept is good, but hopefully your apps get more reliable. I will check in back in the future to see if bluesound has improved their product. If so, I will try it again.

  • Hi Giacomo

Please see this Help Centre Article and check your ISP Router to see if they are using band spanning (1 SSID for both 2.4G and 5G frequencies).
