Shuffle Play
AnsweredI just recently installed the Node 2 and am very happy with the product. My only complaint relates to shuffle play. I discussed it with Technical Support a little while ago and would like to share it with the Community.
I mostly listen to albums (vs songs/playlists) and have noticed that since I stopped using physical media, I usually listen to an album for 10 to 20 minutes before switching to another. Accordingly, I use shuffle play quite a bit or else I would always be listening to the first 10 or 20 minutes of an album and very rarely the rest. The problem is that the Node 2 will not enable shuffle play until the entire album is in the Play Queue (in its original order) and the first song is playing. If I then invoke shuffle play, the order changes but the first song will continue to play. I have to pause play and then click the first song in the shuffled Play Queue in order to get it the way I want.
I can think of 2 fixes for this problem:
1) Enable the shuffling of songs concurrent with the initial creation of the Play Queue. Again, now the songs can only be shuffled after the Play Queue is created. This is my preferred solution.
2) Enable the option to not automatically begin playing songs when the Play Queue is create. This way, I can get to where I want to be without arbitrarily starting the first song.
In my experiences with Tidal. iTunes, and Spotify, this was never a problem. Otherwise, I rate the Node 2 a "10". Love the product.

Hi Jeff
Thanks for the kind words and feedback. I will forward it to our QA team for consideration.
Our original design in BluOS 1.x was very similar to your option 2 but resulted in tremendous support issues and returned product because consumers did not understand that once songs were added to an existing queue, you would have to press Play unless you were adding to 'clean' queue.
That being said, we are always looking for ways to improve the user experience.

Thank you. I know that in product development, nothing is as simple as it appears to the user. However, my option 1 does seem simple. If the user has turned on shuffle play prior to populating the Play Queue, then shuffle the queue when it is first established. Right now, the turning on of shuffle play as I described is totally ignored.
