    Hi Thijs

    Thanks for contacting Bluesound.

    Our partners at NAD Electronics have included this in our BluOS firmware for their Custom Integration line (The NAD CI580) up but I suspect this may be overkill for what you have in mind. Unfortunately we have not been able to bring it to Bluesound as the problem would be physically connecting the doorbell chime itself to the Bluesound Player. The CI580 actually has a doorbell input port on the back.

    Hi,

    I wouldn't want to connect a doorbell physically to a Bluesound device, I already have a home automation system where the doorbell is connected to. I just would really like to be able to let the Bluesound device play a "chime" sound, triggered by a network command.

  • Hi Thijs

    As mentioned it's only available on the NAD lineup so far, but I will mention it to our QA team for future consideration. Which Home Automation system are you using and is it already BluOS compatible;

    • Control 4
    • Crestron
    • Push
    • Roon
    • RTI
    • URC

  • Hi Thijs

    We currently do not support this DIY system but I have forwarded your feedback to our development and engineering group for future consideration.

    Would also love to see a doorbell feature within Bluesound. I am using Crestron i my own home and also for our customers. Of course there is a Crestron module and we could start a preset (=playing a doorbell file) but the difficult thing is that this preset stays in nowplaying and the player doesn't revert back to the music played before.

    I would think best would be, if there could be a virtual internal source "doorbell" playing a custom selected doorbell audiofile. If there could be a setting in each player to add them to the doorbell group. So sending a command by Crestron to Bluesound should start the doorbell group to play the audiofile and after that goes back to the last state (off/playing TuneIn or whatever was selected).

    That would be a great feature...
