Backup for Vault2i

I purchased two new Vault2i units.  For backing up each of them, I purchased two Western Digital / Sandisk 2TB SSD units.  These are very expensive, and well-regarded.

I attached one of the SSD drives to one of the Vault2i units.  The Vault unit could "see" the drive.  When I started the backup procedure in the Blue OS app, the app wanted to re-format the SSD.  When I tried to proceed, there was an "action halted" message.  My dealer, ListenUp, had the same experience.  Why won't the BlueOS app re-format the SSD and proceed with the backup?

  Why not do the backup on the PC? ;-)
  It is much faster than using the V2i.
  As soon as I drag a recording to the V2i, I save the file simultaneously on the PC and or on an external SSD.
