Yes this is quite a common thing, do bear in mind that your laptop needs to be turned on and in your home for this to work.

My next task is to find a way to stream music to my wireless speakers..preferably using Airplay. This is the reason I bought the Node.

Right now I use my laptop music files to play music via airplay . I was hoping the Node DAC to get better sound ...maybe i had wrong expectations.

The NODE is designed to be connected to an amplifier which has speakers connected to it and not for connecting directly to wireless speakers.

Thanks for helping ...it is now clear that i should not have bought a Node...i made the assumption wrongly that it would work in the same way as my NAD M10...

Main difference is the NAD M10 has an amplifier and the Bluesound NODE does not, the Bluesound POWERNODE is the equivalent device with an amplifier but without the touch screen.
