Home Theater Group: Play music like Multi-Player Group (not remixed "stereo surround")
AnsweredI just purchased a Powernode N330 and two Pulse M which I have set up as a Home Theater Group. Imagine my surprise when I found out today that I cannot simply play music through all of my speakers when they are part of a Home Theater Group.
There is a setting called "stereo surround", but it sounds very unpleasant to me. Having this setting enabled remixes the track and filters out vocals and other frequencies which are played through the rear speakers.
When I group the Powernode and Pulse speakers in a Multi-Player Group, music sounds great. But then I cannot use this group for watching movies.
So what I end up with is either having a subpar movie watching experience, having a subpar music listening experience, or having to ungroup the speakers each time I switch from watching movies to listening to music. Which I cannot imagine myself doing.
What I want is the following:
Add an option to Home Theater Groups, which allows the user to choose how music is being played:
- Stereo (same as having Stereo Surround OFF)
- Surround Stereo (same as having Stereo Surround ON)
- Full (same as having speakers paired in a Multi-Player Group)
"Music" meaning all sources which are not HDMI.
Sonos has "ambient" and "full" modes for playing music, which is exactly what I'm looking for: https://support.sonos.com/en/article/change-surround-audio-settings
From what I gather in these forums, feature requests are rarely considered. And if they are, it takes several years for them to be implemented. So I'm considering to return all of my Bluesound hardware. Because having to create and delete groups every day seems very cumbersome to me.
