Powernode Edge Gain/Sensitivity
AnsweredI've got sensitivity/gain question. If I set the volume to 0dB what is the sensitivity (in dBFS) of the Edge? This is not powerful amp, but has neat "Volume limiter" feature. I'd like to set the volume limit so I can avoid clipping and stay in the lowest distortion range and don't care about volume level.
Stereophile measured, that Powernode (not Edge) has about 12dB of excessive gain, that's a lot and it's easy to get into clipping range.
I can measure this myself using -20dBFS 1kHz test tone, but it's bit tedious.

Hi Alexander
After speaking with our Quality Assurance Team, at max volume, it would be around -26dBFS give or take.

So it has -26dBFS sensitivity? I mean should I set maximum volume to -26dB to get full power output from 0dBFS digital signal?
In the meantime I've measured voltage on terminals using 0dBFS 40Hz wav played from USB. When set to maximum volume with volume limiter tuned off I was able to get only about 17V, so theoretically 36W @ 8R. Not sure however what impedance speakers have @ 40Hz (haven't measured current due to lack of second multimeter), so this is not scientific by any means, but whole device had about 75W power consumption (it has about 9W when idle).
