Vault 2i Hard Drive Replacement

The hard drive on my Vault 2i started to click and the unit wouldn't boot up, so I uninstalled the old drive and went out and bought a new hard drive, a Seagate that is the replacement for the Video-type drive that the Vault 2i came with. When replacing the hard drive, does it need to be formatted EXT4 before installation, or are the onboard memory and processor able to format a blank drive? Also, are there any other steps that need to be taken before I can get it to work? I understand I'll need to reload all of my music from backups afterwards. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I asked about this kind of thing. The only answer I managed to get out of them is they don’t support end users replacing HDs in Vaults. They want to have you send in the unit and pay (what I gather is approx $500) to replace the drive.

If you search you will find the answer you need, the tricky part if you don’t have a Unix machine handy is formatting the replacement drive.

How do I contact bluesound about servicing my vault? They responded with some software solutions that did not work, and have gone silent. Do they offer replacement HD service?
