vault 2i digital input / output level

The output sound level of the pulseflex 2i speaker is much lower when I select the digital input on the vault2i in comparisson to a playlist or station .
I use the analog audio output from my pre-amp ( rotel) or the headphone output , and the analog input on the Vault .Is this signal not strong enough ? Or is there anything else I can do ?

Sorry the titel is wrong its not a digital input/output its an analog input/output .
