Bluesound Node and Apple Music Lossless via Apple 4k TV
AnsweredHi,
Last year I switched from Qobuz to Apple Music, given the fact the last one is much easier to use for my wife and kids, and Apple started to play lossless music.
But after using the HomePod mini, I do miss the sound of my hifi installation. So I'm considering to buy the Bluesound Node, so I can connect the Apple 4k TV to the Bluesound Node (via HDMI), and use the RCA output to my receiver (Cambridge Azur). Hoping this is a way to use our Apple Music with lossless quality on our current hifi installation.
But it sounds too simple... Will I be able to enjoy Apple Music lossless with this setup (Apple 4k TV > Bluesound Node via HDMI > receiver via RCA)?

The HDMI port on the NODE is a HDMI ARC port and only for connecting to a TV (also some projectors) corresponding HDMI ARC port. The correct connection would be ATV to TV, TV to NODE.

Thank you very much for your clear answer!
So, if I want to connect ATV to the Bluesound Node (and use the latter as a DAC), I will need to use an audio extractor, and connect this one with the optical in on the NODE, I guess?
Pfff, why is Apple making it so hard to simply use Apple Music lossless...

You could use an extractor, but it’s simpler just to go via the TV. With an extractor you could go straight to your amp.
A little reading on Apple Music…

Edit the original Apple TV had proper sockets, just wish they kept them on the newer models.

Thank you!
The TV is in another room :-) And the amplifier (Cambridge Azur 851A) only has analog inputs. Just to make things complicated.
Thank you for the reading: I think the Airplay 2 might be a solution via the NODE.
