Upgrade advice for vinyl Junkie streaming newbee
AnsweredI am looking to add streaming audio to my listening practice.
Recently auditioned a POWERNODE and was very impressed. I usually listen to vinyl. I also have quite a few CDs. My current setup is an older Yamaha RX-397 and main source is ProJect Essential TT going through a ProJect phono box. I am currently without a CD player. Currently using Dali Speckor 2 or B&W 686 s2 speakers.
looking for advice on how to proceed with an upgrade for the best sound
Do I get a POWERNODE and run the ProJect through the PN audio/optical or do I get a NAD amp (C316 v2, C328) and combine that with the NODE? Or???

Hi Len
A couple of options here. The POWERNODE is a great-sounding product and will allow for your ProJect RIAA Phono PreAmp and have a second connection for an external CD player readily available.
You might also want to consider the NAD C658 BluOS Streamer from our good friends down the hall at NAD Electronics. Pair that with an NAD C268 or C298 power amplifier. This is a little pricer than the POWERNODE but if vinyl is important to you, the NAD C658 includes a phone stage and analogue bypass not available in the Bluesound POWERNODE and what I have in my home to enjoy my vinyl collection. Check out www.nadelectronics.com/dealers to locate an Authorised Dealer near you for a listening demonstration.

Thanks for the reply Tony,
Would the NAD C399 be a similar solution to the C658 + C268?
Thank you again for your expertise I guess there is never a free lunch LOL;)
Cheers,
Len
