Node Gen 3 USB output support for volume control?
AnsweredDear Bluesound
I have two questions. Does the new Node gen 3 support on its USB connection volume control? In other words does the new Node gen 3 support the protocols UAC2 and USB HID on its USB output connection?
Explanation:
USB audio connection should support UAC2 and HID.
USB volume synchronisation relies on UAC2 and USB HID volume commands working in tandem. UAC2 allows the host (Bluesound Node) to send volume commands to attached audio devices (DAC). USB HID volume commands allow attached USB devices (DAC) to send volume commands to the host (Bluesound Node).
The DAC-AMP should go to standby (low-power / sleep) when there is no signal on the USB for some time-out. As soon as the USB start playing again the DAC-AMP should wake-up and start playing.

Volume control is handled at the DAC end. Volume is disabled when using a USB DAC by design.
