    Hi Zayne

You can use Apple AirPlay via a macOS PC to play 16/44 content directly to your Bluesound Player natively. Here's how; https://support.bluos.net/hc/en-us/articles/4403218953495

For problems with ROON, contact Roon Labs.

    What about airplay through iPhone?

    I don't have a Raspberry Pi.

RoPieee XL is new to me

They said Powernode 2i is Roon Ready. I just can't figure out on how to connect Airplay to the Roon feature of the Powernode 2i.

So what is the quality I'm getting when I play music on my iPhone via airplay to powernode 2i?

Is there any workaround on the phone because I normally play music on the phone and I hear the difference when it's playing on my macbook pro. I hope there's a way on the iPhone to play lossless

iPhone using Airplay is lossless, however if you are using the Apple Music app on your phone then it is not lossless over Airplay, this is an Apple limitation.

Yup, I hope Apple can be more friendly. I understand this is not other devices or software's fault. Other platforms like Tidal, Qobuz don't even have DRM. It's a shame that apple is doing this. I love apple but this is not good. Even their apple support is terrible. They train people to give some articles on their website that doesnt solve the problem. Even them are lame on updating their articles and normally you can find the right solution on other websites or here. They think they can monopolize things and give restrictions to anything they produce. This is sad and I'm hoping some company in the future stop this crap.

How bout when I airplay apple music to the macbook and then the macbook to the powernode 2i with the lossless settings you mentioned, will that work or still not lossless since I use airplay on apple music?

    Still lossy.

But you ignore the phone and use the MacBook then you can get better quality, have a search on this forum for a post by TonyW on what to do.

That's cool then if it's lossless. Will search TonyW post

So, if I airplay apple music to MBP, you said it's lossless

Then when I go to control center, sound then choose powernode 2i is that still lossless. Basically, wanna control what I am playing on the phone but music can play on macbook pro.

I just don't get the part where airplay on apple music is lossless, doesn't make any sense.

No, I said ignore the phone.

If it's lossless when I airplay from iPhone to MBP and airplay sound from MBP to Powernode 2i then that's what I am gonna do. I want to control music on my iPhone. The other option is the Home Sharing via iTunes Remote but it only access the library and you will not be able to search songs. At least, you mentioned it's lossless via phone to MBP and ignore the phone. Thanks for your help.

    I couldn't find Tony W. post though

Okay, you just changed your comment from lossless to lossy

So there's no chance on iPhone apple music using airplay to make it lossless???

Correct, not today, perhaps in the future.

It doesn't make any sense. iPhone has a control center also like the macbook. So what you are saying the apple music system on the iPhone and Macbook are different or is it just all about Airplay? I'm trying my best to understand this crap from Apple but it's so confusing.

iOS via AirPlay will never be lossless due to the hardware limitations of the iPhone or iPad. See the Official Comment of this thread for your MacBook.

I see, thanks for making it clearer Tony. So it's the iPhone/iPad hardware limitations.

So then the only way to control apple music from a MBP to an iPhone to unlock lossless wirelessly is the iTunes Remote unless I will use a DAC that I can connect from my iPhone to the Powernode 2i via Analog Mode.

Just to clarify the lossy part is the apple music app only or the Tidal app as well? If I airplay a Tidal song from my iPhone to the Powernode 2i what's the quality?

What about the apple music on apple TV? When I airplay songs to the Powernode 2i is it lossless since you mentioned it's only iPad/iPhone limitation?

    Hi Zayne

As the Help Center article suggests - a MacBook is the only way to get lossless content via AirPlay. That lossless is limited to 16/44.1 - for further details, please see www.apple.com/airplay

I don't see that info on the article that you gave.

I still don’t understand why Apple Music has not yet been added to BlueSound. A previous answer said that it was because of limitations by Apple, but Sonos has added Apple Music for some time already, so it should be possible"

I hope you can add apple music in the future. I know apple is very good in monopolizing their products and strict apple music to their DRM crap but I hope you can also support them like what other's saying. This thing makes really hard for audiophile listeners to get what they want. It's a thing that is being made complicated for the sake of the corporate names. Eventually, new system and software will for sure emerge in the near future and if companies will not listen to their consumers you know what will happen next. So good luck, we are already 2022 I think people deserve a better quality stream not the apple crap limitation which is a joke.

One more thing people are still waiting for the Spotify Hifi / HD and if they will support that since they are more user friendly than Apple and their track radio is great compare to other streaming platforms they will be recognized. I can't really wait to ditch apple music. I'm just subscribe to them because of their lossless and they're less expensive than Tidal/Qobuz.

Actually, I hear the difference on the sound when I airplay on the macbook then output the sound to the Powernode 2i instead of direct airplay the sound from the iPhone or apple TV. I'm learning a lot with this thread. Hopefully everything will get better and Apple need to be user friendly. It doest make any sense when they put limitation where you buy a box and a phone that are expensive compare to others and that it's only the macbook that gives better quality, such a big joke and disappointment.

Hello can you confirm if the sound quality is better if I airplay from an iPhone and apple tv to macbook then output the sound to Powernode 2i?

for me I hear a difference and it's better I just want to confirm with you because you are the audio engineer

    Question:

When I airplay from another music platform like Spotify or Tidal to the Macbook Pro why there's no sound? Can anyone help me please?

That’s a question for Apple or perhaps a forum like MacRumors,
