Android App crashes when grouping Players (3.20.19)
BeantwortetWith the (obviously automatic) update to Android App version 3.20.19, it is no longer possible to control anything, when players are grouped. This behavior is consistent and reproducable.
Tests:
- Grouping players with the app crashes it. Restarting it works for a second, until players are scanned, then again crash. Restarting the device doesn't help. deleting the app cache doesn't help. Reinstalling the app doesn't help. Restarting the players doesn't help.
- Ungrouping the players with the help of a Windows controller results in the Android app happily starting again, nothing to see here. Grouping the players again (either through the Android or Windows controller makes the android app crash again.
- If only the "main" player of the group is connected and the one added is kept unplugged, the app starts fine.
- Creating a stereo pair is NOT leading to crashing the app.
With all due respect: Please fix this ASAP, as, for no apparent reason whatsoever, a core functionality of a basic multi-player setup is now mulfunctiong for android controllers.
Note: I have sent a crash report from inside the app, but - like always - there is absolutely no feedback if this ever went through to you guys and gals. I also clicked on the "show" option, where the only interesting sounding info was "missing handle" of some persuasion or other.

Hi Andreas
Look for an update to the BluOS Controller App 3.20.1 for Android in the coming days to resolve this issue we have been able to replicate in a very small handful of cases.
Thanks for your patience and we do apologise for the inconvience.

Hi Andreas
Thank you for your feedback - If you did not get the response that a Request has been opened, then your App was not communicating with the players. I am escalating your issue to our Support Crew for a closer look. I do however recommend you kill the Android App, reboot your router, wait 5 minutes, reboot your Players, wait 5 more minutes then restart the App in Android. the wait 5 minutes is important to clear DNS cache on your router.
Our Support Crew will be in touch.

Dear Tony,
thanks for your swift feedback. I will follow your recommendations as soon as the gear and me share the same physical space again.
Three things I wanted to clarify:
- I said that if the grouped player (the "added" one) is disconnected, the app works. If the player gets reconnected, the app crashes as soon as it tries to see it properly.
- This is consistent, independently of which player in the whole setup gets added.
- Also be aware that the players are playing happily just fine. At all times, I can control them with the touch buttons. Looking at and commanding them via the Windows app works as good as before. It's only the (updated) android app that's suddenly scared off by large gatherings of players...
I will try the DNS voodoo, but note that this behavior is as new as your latest version of the android app, just saying...
Regards, Andreas

Just the heads-up, Tony: The sequence of action that you suggested unfortunately didn't change a thing.
Support send me an automated ticket number, but no "real" contact, yet. In any case, I don't see how this is not a bug that came with the update, albeit maybe one that doesn't hit all android environs.

For the record: The issue has been solved with the (rapidly issued) newest update.
Thanks for the fast response and friendly support.
+1 for NOT suggesting reinstalling Windows or buying a new phone...
Regards, Andreas
