Roon and Node 2i: Fixed or device volume and SQ

I have a Node 2i connected from the RCA digital out to an AV receiver. I listen to music through Roon and would like to use device volume on the Node so I can control it through the app, but I’m concerned that there will be a degradation of sound quality if I use the Node’s volume control when the receiver has a preamp and its own volume control (that I’ll mostly leave in one position, almost like a power amp). Will having two volume controls negatively impact sound quality?

  It will not affect Sound Quality with regards to Digital Signal Processing from the BluOS side... but BluOS is not the only link in this chain. Your ears will be the ultimate decision-maker in your testing.
