BlueSound NODE as a pre-amp

In practical terms, may the current BlueSound NODE be used as a pre-amp to send content to a power amplifier in a home whole-house distribution system? Am I correct that it may come down to the voltage that the line outs produce?

  In a variation to the above question, I want to use the Node to Airplay from my iPhone.  I also want to bypass the Node DAC to run the signal through a Schiit Modius and into my integrated amp.  So, with this configuration, do I control the volume at the integrate amp's volume control or with my iPhone?

  Very interested in this option.

  What power amplifiers or "home distribution system" are you using?

  I'm looking to feed 2 sets of speakers in 2 separate rooms. One speaker set will always be on and I will need the option to switch on or off the second set.
