Alexa Integration: two way?
BeantwortetHello,
Posting another set of questions: this time regarding Alexa integration. I can't afford to decorate my whole home with Bluesound devices (lol) so I'd like to reserve them for the "hifi rooms" and just have something cheap like Echos for the kitchen and kids rooms. However, I find it difficult to actually discern if the Alexa integration works "two ways." It seems pretty clear that you can integrate Bluesound speakers into Alexa sound groups with the Alexa directory of room names, and this of course would allow you to play Alexa content through Bluesound speakers. The other direction, then, would be selecting Echo devices as BluOS players when using the BluOS controller. Does it work this way? Part of the appeal of BluOS to me is the ability to easily integrate a hi-fi phono source via the Hub and use a NODE/POWERNODE as a player to detect my home media server with 24-bit music content and stream everything to high quality speakers wireless and losslessly. Amazon Alexa cannot do either of these things with their devices and services.
I would be OK if BluOS sources cannot play through Echo devices as BluOS players, and that only Alexa content would be able to play on all devices simultaneously, but I would want to know that definitively going into it.

Hi Theodore
BluOS is a closed system and can only share music with other BluOS Players. One thing to consider, BluOS is an Apple AirPlay Speaker. Meaning if you have other AirPlay Speakers, playing from a Mac or iOS device music can be shared to your BluOS player and other AirPlay Speakers.
Also, keep in mind you can start with one BluOS Player and add more at later dates.

Hmm,
the only problem is that not everybody wants to have or effort Apple products. So it would be great that BlueOS will be open for various other systems, maybe chromecast or Amazon Alexa.

Thanks for the response. So what I imagine being able to do (use streaming services with both BluOS and non-BluOS devices) is ONLY possible via airplay? I can use homepods or other airplay speakers in lieu of Echo devices, but I'd prefer Amazon as the other user pointed out I don't want to be locked into apple products for controlling that setup. And thank you again for confirming that BluOS controller sources cannot send audio to non-BluOS devices.
