Home Theater Grouping options/channel number support
BeantwortetHello,
I saw on the KB regarding supported players for home theater grouping that there only seems to be support for "front" and "rear" channels. Since the Pulse Soundbar has support for Dolby Atmos, will there be a firmware update in the future for BluOS players to "just add more speakers" and those speakers will include dolby atmos and center channel support?
I am interested in getting into the BluOS family for my whole home audio solution while at the same time upgrading my 2.1 home theater setup. While a 4.1 would be an upgrade I am hoping for an upgrade path that would someday be able to include atmos speakers without having to replace my front end JBLs (which I love) with a soundbar. The other concern I have is that only the POWERNODE is supported for home theater grouping. Is there any reason as to why I can't use a regular node with digital pre-outs for the front channels and still use two FLEX speakers as the rear channels? That would be the cheapest option for me to enter the BluOS family by being able to keep all my hardware, including my speaker receiver/amplifier, and just use the node as the DAC and multichannel controller.
Thanks in advance for your consideration!

Hi Theodore
We have no plans to add the NODE to the Home Theatre grouping model due to a number of limitations of passive streamers versus active streamers such as the POWERNODE or PULSE lineup.
Short term this may look like a bigger price point but long term after adding other options may be the same price or even cheaper.. have you considered an NAD AV Receiver powered by BluOS such as the NAD T758v3? This may be a better fit for your needs and will allow for a full 5.1.4 DOLBY Atmos experience.

Thanks for the response! I have follow up questions: Does the NAD T758v3 support home theater grouping so that the Flex or Pulse speakers can be used as rear channels wirelessly through BluOS? If I have to rocketfish or wire rear speakers manually using that device, I might as well just get a NODE and keep my current amp, ha.
Other question: does the POWERNODE, or the NAD M10V2, support DTS? limiting 4.1 capabilities to Dolby Exclusive content would be far too limiting for me. Is DTS support or more channels in the roadmap for future "active" streamers like the POWERNODE?

The NADT758v3 is a traditional AV Receiver and you will have to wire your rear speakers using speaker cable.
Bluesound players do not support DTS but NAD AV Receivers do.
