Bluos Android app "mounting share failed"
AbgeschlossenLike others that got the mounting failed error message there is a cure for this if you have a WD Passport USB connected to your router as media server or SMB. Not sure if this easy fix will work for anyone's hardware but here is how I'm setup. Asus RT-N66R in AP mode with an older WD My Passport in the USB port.
Since the latest 3.18.7 update it network shares would not work and after so many attempts to get it connected again I gave up. Then reading through many articles and user complaints I acknowledged that all it might need are new more secure permissions. This was done on the Asus Web GUI on my Samsung tablet as my PC is older than the hills.
Clicked on the Samba tab and turned off guest mode for the Passport. CLICKED on the admin icon and setup a username and password for the share and set permissions for the music folders. Back to the Bluos app and bingo it was now able to detect shares after asking for credentials and even listed all the folders on the WD Passport and let me choose which folders to index.
I should have done this first thing when I read about the security reasons for removing the share ability on older external drives but it was the last thing that I did after hours of troubleshooting. Just wish that the people at Blue sound would have given us all heads up about this.
