I just spent 3-4 hours with the most recent Node (which I picked up specifically for the new eARC/HDMI functionality) and finally unplugged it and put my Node2i back in place. I did not care for the new DAC in my system - was a bit brittle - but that could have been remedied. It seems to have a other changes to the preamp and different portions of the chain. Even using it just as I did the 2i, via optical input, I couldn't get a level sound out of it, e.g. the optical from my LG tv was at least 50% lower. The CEC functionality was incredibly ... how to put it ..."spongey" as well. Volume changed would creep and then suddenly jump.

All that said, I'm resigned to using the RC-1 remote and a few IR learning functions with my others.
For what it's worth, you too could program IR learning and map the source switch to HDMI-ARC the power signal for set-top box. This is what I've personally done with the LG power button (so it does it when we turn the TV off but that's never a problem since we're in the controller if we want to listen to music anyhow. I also have the #1 preset on the RC-1 set to do the same, just in case. :)  Our little patchwork will continue to work for us. Just wasn't too happy with the new Node operation overall.
