Connection to AV receiver with dual outputs

Does anyone have any experience connecting a Node to a receiver using both an optical audio out and RCA analog out and then selecting your input of choice on the receiver?

  Thank you for the quick response. So, my understanding is when using RCA cables then it is using the Node's DAC and when I'm using the optical audio cable then I am bypassing the Node's DAC?
