    Hi Eric

HDMI outputs of Blu-Ray players are not generally Audio Return Channel outputs. ARC out and eARC out are generally only on TVs. If you connect your BluRay player to a TV and then connect the TV's HDMI port labelled as ARC you should have no issue. You can also use Optical out or COAX out of your BluRay Player if your intent is not to use it with video.

Ok so the reseller did not know what they sold me apparently. Is there a way to 'convert' the HDMI audio output from the Sony into a compatible HDMI input for the PowerNode ? I am using the 2 optical inputs already on the PowerNode so I need an alternative, happy to customize a cable if this is just a PIN story : can you check with your tech team ? (Yes I am bit annoyed there)

(I am also using the coax input... so the need to leverage the HDMI plug on the PowerNode)

So NET NET : can you point me to a HDMI converter to HDMI eARC (so my output from the SONY can re read by the PowerNide), or to a description of a cable pin matching diagram (so I can make a custom cable giving the PowerNoce the right audio digital signal) ???

Do you use a TV or projector? If it‘s a TV does your model have an HDMI eARC Input?

If you use this player for Video mostly, you use the TV and so connect the Discplayer directly at the TV HDMI without eARC and the eARC HDMI Input to the PowerNode. Be shure all settings are correct that your TV uses the eARC feature.

I use a BD player, then a projector, the BD player has hdmi output... which i had planned to connect to the PowerNode hdmi-arc input... so now IO need to find a hdmi to hdmi-arc converter to be able to plug into my PowerNode because the other inputs are already taken... Suggestions wellcome (I have scouted internet and only found hdmi-earc audio extractors that ourput an hdmi : i need the opposite here)

    Hi!

I have the exact same problem! Did you find a solution for this? I've been trying to find that HDMI to ARC converter myself.

Hi Jori, here is how I solved my problem: I used my Sony UBP-MX8000 digital coax output, I bought on *baba a PROZOR coax to fiber converter (abour 15€), then used one digital input on the PowerNode. I found HDMI converters able to extract the sound part from the HDMI video signal and put it in the HDMI ARC signal : those are rare and VERY expensive (150€+), not worth it.

I think the PowerNode designers though/focused on TV owners not Hifi+Projectors owners when making choices and left out a super simple design double input possibility on the Powernode card design (it is real simple to accept both the sound from the video and the arc sides....

Clearly the sellers in shops have zero clue, to complex

    Hi!
Thanks for the answer! Yes, it would have been a nice touch if they had thought the hdmi port functionality thoroughly. Or maybe they did, because I ended up buying the bluesound hub to solve the problem.

Now I have hdmi audio extractor to get the audio from hdmi chain via s/pdif optical. I have 3 hdmi sources behind a hdmi switcher, then hdmi audio extractor, and finally the projector. The Powernode`s second optical input takes the cd player. And now I will be using the Hub with my turntable, and it also replaces the Rega fono MM pre that I`ve been using with my Rega Planar 2.
