NODE, USB cable for external DAC

Besides getting a new NODE, I'm getting a Denafrips DAC - Ares II. I'm assuming I should choose USB to connect both of these devices together? If you agree that USB is the best choice, should I get a USB 2.0 or 3.0 cable? And what is a reasonable amount to spend on the cable? I only need about 0.5 meter. Any recommendations?

  Well, I prefer the coax connection :) 
  But what matters is what sounds best to you. Just experiment a bit I’d say.
