Can Desktop Controller output to speakers connected to same computer?

I would like to try the BlueOS Desktop Controller before I purchase a BlueOS enabled piece of hardware. Would the Desktop App be able to output to my computer's speakers or to an audio device connected via USB? I would like to experience the UI and connected services

  The BluOS Controller App requires a BluOS Player. It does not play music. Think of it as a remote for your television.
