Node (N130) MQA processing on optical input
BeantwortetHi all,
I've just taken delivery of a new Node and I'm still figuring out how best to slot it into my existing system. One of the areas I'm trying to work out is what processing the Node can do to signals from the optical input. The BluOS app doesn't give any indication of what is happening on files played via the optical input.
Specifially, I'd like to know if I can pass an unfolded MQA track to the Node via optical input and have the Node either (i) decode this and pass a fully-unpacked signal (e.g. 192khz at 24bit, if that's what the original master was before folding) via analog output; and/or (ii) pass the digital system through cleanly to an external DAC to do the MQA decoding.
For those interested, one of the use case is I have a Squeezebox Touch that cannot decode MQA but that can pass MQA encoded files through its optical output (without touching them). I'd like the Node to receive those files and unpack them before outputting the full resolution via analog outs.
Many thanks in advance for your help.

The NODE is able to unfold an MQA signal over the Optical Input, yes. You'll need to toggle the Settings > Player > Customize Sources > Optical > MQA Passthrough > ON (AV Mode under the same menu will need to be Off).
From there it is unfolded, and you can either pass it completely decoded via the NODE's analog out (at full provided res), or just unfolded and leave the decoding to your external DAC by connecting it to the NODE's coax or optical output
