Headphone jack output

Wondering if the headphone output on the Node is always on? Meaning when you have analog RCA cables connected in the rear does it shut off the headphone jack output? Some devices will shut off the RCA outputs when a headphone plug is inserted. I'm hoping to "feed" two independent systems from one streaming device (not at the same time mind you). So if it does, that's ok. I just don't want to connect and disconnect cables all the time.
