How is auto-sense supposed to work?

When I use AirPlay and then stop (even disconnect from the phone) it doesn't go back to the HDMI/TV input in any way I've tried. The only thing that works is restarting the TV/Apple TV. 

Is the auto-sense not supposed to switch to the HDMI if I've turned auto-sense on? How is it supposed to work?

  Hi Lars,

  What you are experiencing is normal. Auto Sense works when the HDMI input changes from an Off to an On state. If you switch from HDMI to a streaming source such as AirPlay, Auto Sense will not automatically switch the player back to HDMI while the HDMI signal remains active.

  As an alternative, you can program an IR remote to select the HDMI input directly. Please see the instructions here:
