NAD T778 – AirPlay (BluOS) does not restore previous HDMI/eARC audio source after playback

I am experiencing a reproducible firmware/CEC state management issue with my NAD T778 related to AirPlay (BluOS) and HDMI/eARC source restoration.

System setup:

• NAD T778
• TV connected via HDMI eARC
• PlayStation / Apple TV as HDMI sources
• AirPlay/BluOS used for music playback
• TV acts as main video hub, NAD as audio receiver

Problem description:

When I start music playback via AirPlay directly to the NAD, the NAD correctly switches to its internal AirPlay source and takes audio focus.

However, after AirPlay playback is stopped, the NAD:

• does NOT restore the previous active external source (HDMI/eARC)
• does NOT re-initiate eARC
• does NOT send a CEC “Active Source” event
• remains in an undefined / idle internal state

As a result:

• The TV does not regain audio focus automatically
• External devices (e.g., PlayStation) lose automatic audio routing
• I am forced to manually reselect the TV/eARC input on the NAD every time after using AirPlay

Expected behavior (firmware logic):

After AirPlay stops, the NAD should:

• Restore the last active HDMI/eARC source
• Re-establish eARC audio path
• Send the appropriate CEC Active Source signal In short: AirPlay → Stop → Automatic return to last external source.

Important:

This is not a cable, TV, or configuration issue. The behavior is fully reproducible and clearly points to a missing state-restore handler in the HDMI/CEC firmware logic after internal (AirPlay) source deactivation.

Impact:

This breaks automatic audio routing after every AirPlay session and forces constant manual input switching, which is not acceptable for a flagship AVR in this class.

Please forward this as a firmware bug / feature request to engineering:

Add automatic restoration of the last external input after AirPlay playback ends, including proper eARC re-initialization and CEC Active Source signaling. If needed, I can provide step-by-step reproduction instructions and video proof.
