MQA pass through on C3050LE coax input
BeantwortetOn the prefs of coax input there is a "MQA pass-through" switch, missing on optical input.
What does it mean for the incoming digital signal? If I toggle on such switch, the "A/V setting" switch desappears, suggesting a more direct path setup for the incoming signal.
At the moment I connected to toslink input a WiiM Pro, needed for some use not available in Bluos. Should I connect it to coax, in order to have just the bare signal and no conversions at all? I'm quite sure that in the past, when a WiiM mini was optically connected to the amp, Bluos noticed me if a given song was eventually MQA, this this is no more happening.
I have to add that this is a simple curiosity, since non evidence of difference...

The chart in the link below details what the setting does.

Thank you, I didn't notice this table.
Terms differ from my C3050LE but I can suppose that the MQA pass-through voice, could means that when enabled no decoding is done, letting to eventually other gear do the task.
Since I have a CD player connected to coax, I will arrange to get one of those MQA CD, just to test the behavior. My other possible MQA source, Tidal, keeps unofficially the old 44.1KHz 16bit files that still trigger the internal Bluos dac but external app like the WiiM one, seem not allow their transparent pass through from WiiM's streamers.

Ok, I got an MQA CD and verified that it's MQA decoded on coax input of amplifier, only if "MQA pass-through" is set to on.
Setting it off, cd plays but without the "MQA" icon
It's hard to say if there's differences, since to toggle the active mode, in addition to change the coax set up, it's also needed change back an forth the input selected. Too much time to have instant and reliable comparisons.
The toslink port doesn't have MQA pass-through selection and it seems it never allows decoding MQA but I'm not sure sinché the other CD player is toslink connected trough another external device, dot directly to amp and at the moment I'm to lazy for rework cables...
