Using Powernode 2i-HDMI with Alexa fails
BeantwortetI have been trying to get Alexa to work with my Powernode, but am totally failing.
Everything seems to be configured correctly, Alexa activated in the BluOS app and the BluOS Voice Control skill installed and linked in Alexa. If I ask Blue Voice to play Radio Paradise in STUDY (STUDY is the Powernode's name), Alexa replies "playing Radio Paradise in Study", but nothing is heard!
I did read a comment that the Alexa BluOS skill will only work with Amazon.com accounts. I am in the UK so am using an Amazon.co.uk account. Is this the reason? If so, why?
Anyone any clues please?

Hello All
Our Engineering Team is investigating a possible service disruption preventing new Players from joining our BluVoice Service and existing Players re-joining after a system restart. We will keep you posted with our findings and apologise for the inconvenience.

When this happens, something has gone wrong at the AWS end. Please visit alexa.amazon.com and review your BluOS Voice settings. You may have to remove and reinstall the BluVoice Integrations. Here's a reminder on how you did that; https://support.bluos.net/hc/en-us/articles/360009439514-Getting-Started-With-Amazon-Alexa

Hi Tony,
I have tried everything you suggested, but to no avail.
I am in the UK and can only access alexa.amazon.co.uk.
I notice that if from my PC I access the Bluos control panel of my player named "STUDY" using its IP address and then access "Configure Music Services", Amazon and Amazon Alexa are missing from the top of the list where they normally reside. Screenshots below.....
However, if I access Music Services on my player "STUDY" from the BluOS android App, Amazon and Amazon Alexa are shown at the top of the list. Clearly there is some disconnect between the Web interface Control Panel and the App interface.
Basically, Alexa responds correctly to the commands I give it but the player, in this case my Powernode, does not activate accordingly even though it is correctly setup.

I have exactly the same issue with my Node 2i which I have posted elsewhere

Hi Dave
I would contact Amazon to see if there is a problem with your account as we have other UK Based consumers.0 -
Hi Tony,
There is no problem at all with my Amazon account.
Other UK consumers.....who include David Collins who is also in the UK and who also has the same problem!
Screenshot below shows Alexa has received my commands to play Radio Paradise in this example, but no response from the Powernode.
Alexa authorisation on my Powernode STUDY.

I am very aware there are two threads here - please keep your comments to one.
As Dave said here; https://support1.bluesound.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360052686693/comments/1500000203621
Weirdly, mine worked for 3 weeks
Then presumedly stopped working. No changes have occurred to your Bluesound system over this time so all indications suggest there is a service disruption. Note the other thread was a result of a specific AWS Service disruption that affected thousands of services and millions of consumers and not just The BluVoice skill at the time.
As a result, the best and most likely resolution to this issue is to confirm with Amazon that either there is or is not a service disruption or there is or is not a problem with your account connecting to the AWS cloud server where Alexa commands are processed by Amazon. We, unfortunately, cannot check on this for you due to account privacy issues to protect your privacy and account integrity.
Thank you for your continued patience and understanding.0 -
Hi Tony,
Last night I set up my Sony KD-48A9 OLED TV with Alexa.
The TV works fine with Alexa and responds to commands via Alexa, but the Powernode still doesn't respond.
So, it would seem to be a problem specific to Blue Voice as my Amazon account, access to Amazon servers, etc, is presumably the same for the TV as for the Powernode.

Like Dave, all my other Alexa enabled devices including my TV work, but not BluVoice. I contacted Amazon who are not aware of any problems at their end.

Glad to hear - we however have not seen an increase or change in problems in the UK so whatever is happening is something local (and coincidence you are both seeing it). I would use the directions in the Offical Comment to remove and re-add the BluVoice control, as you did for the TV.
If that does not resolve it, then we will need a closer look by sending us your Bluesound log file by selecting Help, Send Support Request in the app and one of our Support Crew Members will reach out for a closer look.-1 -
Hi Tony, I have done what you suggested a few times. On Monday I raised a support request via the app (ticket Id #214194). I didn't realise it had gone through but it's showing as open and has a log file attached. I appreciate there may be delays due to Covid but hopefully someone in your team will pick it up.

Thanks David
It has been unprecedentedly busy here as Home Audio has become a major source of Entertainment over the past 10 months - we will get to you though - thanks for your patience0 -
I have the same problem here in Boston; sort of. Alexa keeps telling me that I'm having difficulty accessing that skill' for any 'Use Bluevoice' command - and has never worked.
I too am seeing Alexa in the Music Service menu form the app, but NOT from the web interface to the device's IP address.
My Alexa app and Node 2i has been setup, removed and re-setup like 10 times based on Blue Sound tech which has been sending me in circles with no solution. Like the rest of you, all of my other skills on Alexa work fine and there's no connection issue. I even spent an hour with Amazon support who concluded that all of the commands are communicating to them, but that the Bluevoice side is not responding. Bluesound says its an Alexa issue - GO figure.
The case # was #215755 and they had the nerve to close it on me unsolved.
Does anyone know of anyone that actually has their Alexa app working with Blue Sound NOde 2i???

Mine worked for 3 weeks and then nothing for the last month or so . My experience with tech support and Amazon was exactly the same as yours. I have given up on Alexa with the Node 2i. Love the Node 2i but shame about the Alexa integration.

Hello since this is an active thread about Alexa I thought I would get on the band wagon.
Alexa says this all the time and does absolutely nothing.
"Sorry I am having trouble accessing your Bluos voice skill right now"
I have enabled/disabled, tried many many times to get it to do something and it will not do anything. I have followed the instructions and no luck.
Please help, Alexa can control my vacuum, my lights, my locks, everything, but the Bluos device (Node 2i) with latest firmware and the latest apps installed on android devices and windows.

Hi Rocko,
Welcome to the band wagon! However, it seems that at present, getting BluOS issues resolved, no matter whether Alexa, HDMI or others, is something of a forlorn hope!

We have been able to identify an issue affecting a small handful of consumers who are new to BluVoice and tried to set up their players since the major AWS worldwide outage back in late November that made major news headlines.
We have since resolved the issue as of late Tuesday afternoon but will ask you again one last time to please log out of Music Services, Amazon Alexa then restart your player. You can restart your player from the comfort of the couch by selecting Help, Diagnostics, Reboot. Once your Player restarts, log back into Alexa. Just a reminder, if you have multiple Players, Amazon Alexa is, for security purposes, one of the few services that do not replicate between multiple Players so the above steps will be required for all Players you wish to use Alexa with.
Please feel free to review the Help Centre article Getting Started with Amazon Alexa for details on this.
If problems persists, please select Help, Send Support Request so we may take a closer look0 -
Pleased to say mine is working now, thank you.

Well what do you know it now works. Thank you for fixing it. Pulled my hair out for over a month. Very happy now, might even buy another player!

One final question here though as it is important:
Will Bluos show up as a DEVICE in Alexa?
0 -
Mine doesn't and I've not seen that mentioned anywhere as a possibility. See what tech support have to say.
0 -
They don't show up as a Device in Alexa -- I believe it requires a mic to be an Alexa Device

I'm also glad to report that the BluVoice skill is now working with Alexa.
Now, I just have find the correct syntax to get it to do what I want.
How so you get it to play a song from TIDAL or Spotify?
Tony - Thanks for you and your teams support on this.

Thank you Dave and Sam for the comments/answers.
Peter,
Try this and read the Preset area, there are links on the page to Creating a Preset and a skill guide and command phrases. I hope it helps.

Presets are working for me. I am still working on the other commands...........

Hi! So, I just got a Node 2 and I'm having the same issue. Everything done exactly as stated and the reset....still no dice. Anyone else? A bit frustrating

I am really wondering why Alexa and Google Assistant is still not there for other language regions. There are so many systems out there who got these integrations up and working extremly fast. But with BluOS this is still a open case...
Any news when we will see Alexa and Google Asssistant for Germany and other regions?
