    Hi guys.
    Coming late but worth it.
I had the same issue and could not figure out - but I have the answer. It will not work for me : the reason is my phone is enrolled with my company and they force a password for security issues.
    You can check in
Settings > General > VPN & Device Management > Restrictions

At the bottom it says "AirPlay outgoing requests pairing password enforced"

My company would not change it. So no AirPlay from my enrolled iOS devices :(

    Hi Santosh,

I've been told that this can happen when the WiFi setup has been done from an Ios device’s WiFi settings, using the “Set up AirPlay speaker” function. It’s possible to enter a password at that point. Perhaps you can remove it the same way. If not, I'd guess a factory reset of your Node 2i could help solve your issue.

    Best, KriHad

    Hi Santosh

You (inadvertently?) created an AirPlay Password during the setup process when you were prompted by your iOS device. We have spoken with Apple a few times about this. There is no way in Bluesound to remove this without factory resetting your player. You can contact www.apple.com/airplay for more details.

    Hi Tony

Negative. I did a factory reset after reading on forums and didnt set any password when i reinstalled the app on apple phone. I am sure as i had the same issue with my Bose Soundtouch 300 soundbar as it requested airplay passsword and after the reset it never asked again. Not sure how i can resolve it but i will do a device reset and see if it can be resolved. Thanks anyway.

Did anyone ever figure this out? My new 3rd gen Node is experiencing the same issue trying to hookup to AirPlay

Same problem as VCAMINITI. All my other airplay devices work as per.

See Official Comment or select Help, Send Support Request in the App if a factory reset does not resolve the issue.

Hey! I've entered '0000' and it works with me! You may try that options as well. Goodluck!

I too had this problem but had never set an Airplay password. I was about to do a factory reset when I tried my WiFi password and that cured the problem and allowed me to connect to the IOS Home app and see my Node as an Airplay option. I had initially set it up on WiFi before changing it to an ethernet connection. Easier than a factory reset!

FINALLY!!! That did the trick. Thanks Graham

It does not work in my case. I've never created password for my Node (N130). My MacBook still asks to give the password for the device it sees online, than says it was incorrect, nothing works. WiFi password did not help either, I tried it. My laptop and Node are connected via Ethernet cable to the same router.
I do not want to do factory reset because I am afraid to lose connection to NAS, and it was difficult to configure. I would get rid of the Node, the only thing that stops me doing this is my other device, NAD C700. It's a pitty support (or possibly development team) is not able to provide solution for this long lasting issue.

    Thanks for the feedback.

The only way an AirPlay password is generated is during setup. It is possible that you inadvertently entered the password thinking it was a prompt asking for wi-fi credentials.

This setup process is completely handled by Apple and is part of the Apple AirPlay Speaker setup process.

Please see apple.com/airplay for further support or help on this issue.

We do concur it is not ideal, but the ONLY way to resolve this is through a Factory Reset.

Remember to back up your playlists; https://support.bluos.net/hc/en-us/articles/360000479488

TIP - if you have multiple Players in your home - if you factory reset only 1, it will pick up playlists and credentials from others when it rejoins the network. So if you are removing AirPlay passwords on multiple machines, don't do them all at once, spread it out doing 1 a day for minimal data loss.

    Use your Wi-Fi password.

I never had this set up, airplay all the time, had the NAD M33 for a few years now, never been an issue.

The other day it started asking for a password in a new app from my iPhone.

I read this (link below) and thought "how on earth could this work!?" as I'd never set it up.  But never say never, I just tried it...

    It worked.

Use your Wi-Fi password.  I can't believe it worked either.

Jean... my man! After years of fighting with my Blue Sound system... you have given me peace! You know that moment when you're staring into the abyss, wondering if you'll ever hear music again? That was me.

It turns out the security settings the company installed on my phone were the issue for me as well. Now I have to rethink some of the life choices that led me to working for this company. Ahhh well, thank you, Jean!

Tony W, could you please update this in the official answers and documentation? Let's save some souls.

One catch... Like Jean, I also have a company-issued iPhone (Thanks Bluesound) but I do not have the option under VPN & Device Management so it really is limited to how the phone is set up. I am letting my team here at The Support Crew update our SOPs to check for this...

    My thanks also to Jean

I have company phone and requesting code on Airplay on Node 2i. Interestingly I can connect using Airplay on my Yamaha R-N803D. So maybe there is hope for Bluesound or it just works somehow differently?

    Hi Art

Based on the run dates of your third-party receiver, they are very likely using the legacy version of the original AirPlay. In 2018, Apple released AirPlay2 which is in all BluOS Players. One of the many critiques of the original AirPlay was the lack of security and why Apple revisited the protocol when they did.

Right, 803D runs on AirPlay v1. Thank you for checking!

@Tony how do I set airplay password for CI580? I have done factory reset but only get the option to name the streamers during setup. There is no option to set airplay password.

    Hi-Res

Don’t use the BluOS App, use Apple Home, then at the bottom of the screen is an Airplay password option. Don’t change the name either, you should have it set correctly in the BluOS prior.

Edit, sorry this applies to Bluesound devices that have Wi-Fi.

Seppi - I did a factory reset and this time used Home. However, I still don't see an option to set password. I was asked to select a room and then name the speaker but no option to set password. Actually, when I try to setup from a phone that has "AirPlay outgoing requests pairing password enforced", I can't even connect as it prompts for code on screen. Using Home from a phone that does not have that profile setting can set it up as described before but no option for setting password.

Okay, I was able to set this up. There were a few steps that I had to fix (maybe that was obvious to others).

    1. I had to use a device that did NOT have "AirPlay outgoing requests pairing password enforced" set.

    2. The device had to be upgraded 18.1.1 (latest, when I attempted earlier this device was in 17.x)

    3. On the device Home app > Press the three dots at the top right > Home Settings > Allow Speaker & TV Access. Then set the desired password there.
    4. Do a factory reset and add the four players one by one. Here you select the room name and speaker name but there is no place set any passwords. However, after configuration the players do get the password that was set in step 3.

    5. Back to the original device that did have the profile set. Now when I connect to the AirPlay speakers it asks for a password once instead of the code.

    Hi Fiaz

An AirPlay Password is generated using the iOS driven setup process for wireless networks. Since the CI580 is a wired only device, there is no UI to do so in a wired environment. In speaking with our QA and Product Development Team, they have suggested there is no mechanism to create this in the Apple AirPlay provided SDK. They are speaking with Apple about clarification of this. If Apple does provide the ability to do this, it will be an indeterminate amount of time to implement it at this point.

Sorry that I could not be less vague, but it is not possible at this time and we are unsure if it will ever be.

    Thanks for your patience.

    Sorry Fiaz

I was responding to the post previous to your last one. This is great news.. I will have to update our own notes here at The Support Crew.

Thanks for figuring this out for us too...
