Hey Robert, what happens when you select Optical In (rather than Analog In) in the Bluesound app, given that you use the turntable's Optical Out (along with an Optical cable)? Oh, and please ensure that you have the Optical In source enabled in the Vault's source menu (you'll find this in the Player Settings menu).

The Vault can only rip CD's using its built-in CD ripper, not from external devices. Files already ripped elsewhere can be added to the Vault's library using drag n drop on a computer.

As far as I can tell the PSHX500 does not have an optical output - the only digital output is a USB B connector.. This cannot be connected to the USB input on the Vault as that is reserved for storage purposes only.
This means that you can only play back records into the Vault from the Sony's analogue (RCA) outputs.
To listen to CDs you can connect a CD player to the Vault using either an analog or digital (optical) connection but you wouldn't be able to connect it as the same time as your PSHX500 since there is only one physical input socket on the Vault.
If you want to digitise your vinyl records then the only real option is to connect your PSHX500 to a computer. The digital files could then be transferred to the Vault if required via USB.

Thank you. I was mistaken. I did not install the system and I did not look closely enough. As noted by Mark - the output from the turn table is analog (RCA) and the input into the vault is labeled "optical in / analog in. This is an analog connection.  Same problem however. I can not get the vault to play the records when the turn table is connected as described whether or not I select the analog or optical source selected in the app

Robert, have you checked so the OUTPUT SELECT switch on the back of your turntable is set to LINE (rather than PHONO), meaning that the Pre-Amp section of the turntable is in use?

Thanks! That did it. I have to add that the instructions / help available does not walk you thru the steps in the APP. Selecting analog input switches the analog input to turn table. Go Figure.  Thanks for hanging in there with me  r
