Recommended external DACs for Vault 2?

I'd appreciate any external DAC recommendations for the Vault 2. Don't know why I hadn't tried it before, but I tested my ancient Parasound 800 recently and the sound was much, much warmer ... until I played something in HR and the Parasound went bonkers. I'm looking for something smallish and in the budget-to-mid-price range. Coaxial input, RCA outputs to a tabletop amp. No flac files higher res than 24/96.

Thought I'd decided on the Schiit Modi Multibit until I read some scathing reviews online. Even if hi-fi stores were still around, it's difficult to get out and road-test the competition during the pandemic. Many thanks for suggestions.
